Jack and Nicky finally come face to face after Jack enlists in the war. Their meeting is loaded, and Nicky is not happy to see Jack. He does not even know if Jack is really there. "Do not touch me, do not look at me, I'm not here," says Nicky. Jack just wants to help his little brother, who clearly is suffering. He has also been accused of article 15, which is improper conduct.
Jack goes to Nicky's superior, Major Dawson, for help. Jack wants Nicky to walk away and get back on track. "He's not made for this, that's why I'm here," says Jack. Major Dawson refuses to help Jack. Jack is not going to give up without fighting. He is going to save his brother.
Later, Jack sees the mysterious woman with the necklace in the night. She runs away when she sees her gun. Commander Dawson leaves Nicky with Jack and tells him he has two weeks to put Nicky in order. "You should have left me to rot," Nicky spits on his brother when he arrives.
Rebecca and Jack go on their road trip to Los Angeles, and Jack says he needs to visit some people along the way. Jack and Rebecca are known on many levels, emotionally, intimately and more. But there's still a lot that Jack is not telling Rebecca about his past, specifically Vietnam. He tells her why she can not tell him about Vietnam. He says he "does not want to bring that part of my life" to their relationship.
Later, Jack goes to see Roger's parents. He tells them what happened to his son as best he could. He admits that he let his guard down and looking away from Roger was "the worst thing I did". Roger's father says that the death of his son was not Jack's fault. Those words finally give Jack some peace. Jack and Rebecca meet, and sweetly calls her "Bec" for the first time. Rebecca's trip has not been successful in regards to her music, but Jack still believes in her. He asks her to sing to him, and breaks into tears in front of her for the first time.
Currently, Kevin and Zoe have arrived in Vietnam. Kevin learns that Zoe's father actually lives in China. She does not want Kevin to post anything of her on her social networks because her father will try to communicate. Kevin realizes that Zoe never mentioned anything about his family. He tries to talk to her about it, but she quickly changes the subject. Later, Zoe opens up with Kevin, after he tells her he's in love with her. She reveals that her father sexually abused her when she was little. He tried to get in touch with her and make peace, but she does not want to have anything to do with her father. She has moved on.
