As noted, the SmackDown female champion, Becky Lynch, against the female RAW champion, Rousey Ronda, was eliminated from Sunday's WWE Survival series pay-per-view after Becky suffered a broken nose and a concussion during the RAW invasion angle of the previous night.
WWE officials spent the day working on possible angles for tonight's SmackDown to explain the injury, according to PWInsider. One idea discussed would see Becky quickly release the title to another Superstar on tonight's show, then the new champion would face Rousey in Survivor Series.
It is not yet known who could get the title and the match with Rousey, but today several names have been released. The obvious choice would be Charlotte Flair, but that would mean the company is launching through a fight they had planned for WrestleMania 35. Flair is expected to reveal herself as the Captain of Team SmackDown tonight, but the plans are in the air due to Lynch's injury. A final decision has not yet been made as of 5 pm ET today.
There was also talk that Rousey will face Mandy Rose or one of The IIconics (Billie Kay or Peyton Royce) this Sunday in Survivor Series, but we're still not sure if these three were also considered for a title race.
