When you connect for the first time to the new Netflix series Sabrina's chilling adventures, you could be briefly confused by the timeline. Although the characters act and speak as if they were in the same noir of today as the sister series of the program, Riverdale, the aesthetic is decidedly retro. So, what exactly is the deal with SabrinaThe configuration? This is what we know so far.
Sabrina It is established in approximately the modern day. The characters make contemporary references, and at least in the real world, it reads like a stylized, neo-black and stylized version of our own world, very similar to Riverdale make. In fact, although there are no plans to cross the two shows at this time, Sabrina's hometown, Greendale, has been mentioned in Riverdale Already, and the creators have not ruled out the possibility that Archie and his friends know Sabrina, as in the comics. However, it is worth noting that the series of comics that served as the source material for the program takes place in the 1960s. Like many shows with a magical component, there is "our" world and the "magical" world, and that's where where the time of the show (or its style, at least) becomes a bit more murky.
A big part of Sabrina's history is her attendance at the Academy of Visual Arts. Think of Hogwarts, but seriously dark and twisted. In this world, as in the magical world of Harry Potter, rituals and ancient formalities are more the order of the day than smartphones and Instagram. Although they are still in the modern world, they are not in an environment that has fully embraced modern "deadly" technology. Because of this, Sabrina Inhabits a half modern world, half old, it seems appropriate for a girl divided between the mortal and magical worlds.
