The opera singer and director Božena Hanáková died

Kosice. At the age of 88 Monday 26 November, the personality of the Slovak and Košická opera, opera singer, director and pedagogue Božena Hanáková, spokesman for the State Theater (ŠD) Košice Svjatoslav Dohovič died.

In the basketball theater Hanáková has been in operation since 1954 for more than 50 seasons.

Theater and opera was given to Hanáková in Vienna, born in the family of theater artists.

As a child, she played in opera productions of the Slovak National Theater (SND), where her mother worked at that time, the mezzo soprano Ružena Kustrová.

At the Academy of Performing Arts she studied opera singing and dancing.

Košiceam remained faithful throughout his career

"Immediately after school she joined the state theater Košice, where she performed a number of opera and opera characters – Jolana and Julia in Cigánska Lava, Adel in Netopier, Valencia in Vesele widow, Zerlin in Don Giovanni, Musetta in Bohemia, Rosina in Barbier from Seville, Olympia in Hoffmann's stories and many more, Dohovič said.

Together with his spouse, actor Jan Hanák, they later formed a production team, which, under the auspices of the Košice Theater, carried out several operatic and operetta productions.

Already together with her daughter Danica Hanáková, a costume designer, she made direct production of her latest production, Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata, in 1997, which he played on the ŠD scene to January this year.

"She has been faithful to Košice Theater throughout her professional career, but she has been successful in Prague, Ostrava, Brno, Miškovci, and she has also performed on trips in the Netherlands and Germany," said Dohovič.

The ensemble of ŠD Košice Opera presents her monument and reminds her of the performance of Verdi's Nabucco opera on Wednesday, November 28th.

"The last goodbye to Božena Hanáková will take place on Thursday November 29 at 11.00 in the historic building in Šd Košice," said Dohovič.
