Now where, where have I seen that before?
Last night on Instagram, Jon Favreau, executive producer and writer at The Mandalorian, the next Star Wars The live-action television program, published an advance on his Instagram, one that offers a look at the production while, for a certain type of fan, it is very, very familiar.
That, friends, is known (according to Wookieepedia, and this is almost certainly not Canon information at this point) an Amban phase pulse blaster, a clean mid-range weapon with a piece of bifurcation at the end. And, according to the promotional image we already have, this could be the main weapon of the mysterious star of the program.
If you feel that you have probably seen it before, you have done it. I was in the Star Wars Holiday Special. Specifically, it was in the animated segment, "The Story of the Faithful Wookiee," that he starred Boba Fett in a deliciously discolored costume. This is how the gun looked in 1978:
