Hollywood icon Robert Redford, now in his 80s with a career that has spanned six amazing decades, has its isolated wine region of more than an acre on the picturesque outskirts of the community of St. Helena, California, in the Valley of Napa, on sale at $ 7.5 million. The Oscar and Golden Globe winner, also twice Emmy nominated, first in 1963 and again in 2013, acquired the estate in 2004 for an undisclosed amount.
The sun-drenched retreat, called Dance of the Sun, is anchored in a European-style white-stucco manor house, secreted on a long, winding driveway where it is nestled amid majestic oaks and pleasant, simple gardens, with a postcard Perfect for the valley and the views of the mountains. The two-story main house, sophisticated and full of art, but still informal and inviting, has three bedrooms and two full baths and two half baths at 5,255 square feet. A living room with steps just inside the front door has a fireplace in the corner; the spacious and well-equipped kitchen, although not particularly high, offers a large island with a spectacular view over the sink; and an unconventional family room with an imposing stone fireplace.
Two large guest bedrooms share a Jack and Jill style bathroom on the upper floor, while a separate wing on the main floor has a spacious office / library combination and the master suite that includes a living area with corner fireplace with arch , a dressing room and large bathroom with sauna. The living room opens onto a dining terrace located on a lower terrace with heated pool and shaded hut. The land also includes a hot tub and raised-bed orchards built with the same rustic and humble stone used to build retaining walls around the property.
The numerous units of the serene estate include a 907-square-foot art studio built for Redford's wife, painter Sibylle Szaggars, which has transparent glass garage doors side by side to a stone terrace, a full bathroom and an office corner. The property also includes a 450-square-foot workshop and a separate 900-square-foot garage and gym.
Redford, whose most recent film, the comedy about crime "The old man and the gun", is currently in theaters, told the property gossip in The Wall Street Journal, who first reported the list: "We have enjoyed both of loneliness as of the house. " It provides along with the proximity to Napa Valla and everything it has to offer. "The Redfords, who plan to move from their California outpost to the Bay Area to be closer to the family, have always maintained a luxury ranch outside of Provo, Utah, at Sundance Mountain Resort, owned by Redford, where the Sundance Film Festival, founded in Redford, is held every year.
The property is represented by Steven Mavromihalis and Chuck Sawday, both of Pacific Union International.
