After the dramatic climax of RunawaysThe first season, the super-powerful children team is on the move and realizes that their friendship can be the only thing that can keep them alive. The last trailer for the second season of the show dips down on the importance of the kids learning to use their powers to protect themselves, but it also introduces a hell of much more magic into the mix. And it looks really cool.
Some of the biggest questions about RunawaysThe second season has been about how and if the show should begin to dive into the more mysterious and supernatural elements of the source material, since they begin to appear when the rag-tagg team breaks out of their parents. During most of the first season, Nicos (Lyrica Minoru) powers were fully attributed to her access to her mother's technologically advanced staff who could effectively mimic a variety of magical achievements. But the new recording suggests that next time we get her, there will be a bit more to her capabilities than the series has turned on.
Oh, it's also a vampire, because of course it is.
Newcomer Jan Luis Castellanos participates in the cast as Topher, a character like, in Marvel's Runaways cartoons, was a vampire that the group first experienced while hiding in the abandoned hostel which became their new operating basis. It is also interesting to note that the new season is going to affect Karolinas outer legacy – wondering what thing is that Pride tries to wake up in Los Angeles.
Runaways returns to Hulu December 21st.
