Mike "Beard Guy" Taylor, keyboardist and vocalist in Walk Off the Earth, has died, the band has confirmed.
The group wrote the following statement on social media Sunday evening (December 30):
"It is with great sadness that we announce the passage of our beloved brother and bandmate, Mike & # 39; Beard Guy & # 39; Taylor. Mike had a love for life that was unsurpassed and a willingness to give it went beyond the usual means. He passed peacefully from Natural causes is asleep yesterday. Our deepest sympathy is with his two children, whom he loved more than anything else in the world. We ask for the privacy of the family at this time. "

The Canadian indie pop band, renowned for its well-reputed YouTube songs, as well as originals, including the new single "Fifth Avenue", were scheduled to perform on New Year's Eve in Niagara Falls for CBC.
"I have trained quite hard to be a keyboard player since I was four years old, worked on my life and tried to get my chops up at the highest level I can," Taylor said in an interview in 2012 when the group's coverage of Gotye's " Someone I used to know "went viral.
Just before Christmas, Taylor shared his beautiful solo piano rendition of "O Holy Night" on Facebook, saying that it was "hands down my favorite Christmas song."
