Matthew Broderick joins "The Conners".

The actor, 56, is ready to make a guest appearance in the split of "Roseanne" for an upcoming episode, Broderick's representative, Simon Halls, confirmed to USA TODAY on Saturday.

Broderick is expected to play Peter, a love interest on screen for the character of Laurie Metcalf, Jackie, during a Halloween episode that will air on October 30.

However, something can go wrong between the characters: a summary of the plot of the episode in IMDb.com reveals: "Jackie introduces someone new to the family at the Halloween party and insists that Dan examine it, only to wish immediately that he has not."

The ABC comedy premiered on Tuesday with 10.5 million viewers, beating NBC's "Manifest" as the biggest premiere on the same day of a new show this season, according to Nielsen's preliminary estimates.

Broderick is best known for his leading role in the 1986 film "Ferris Bueller & # 39; s Day Off" and as the adult voice of Simba in the Disney trilogy "The Lion King."
