Little Mix is no stranger to the audacious videos of power, see "Power", "Shout Out To My Ex" and most of their other singles as proof, but the most recent of the group may be the best.
For "Woman Like Me," boss-minded Nicki Minaj's collaboration launched earlier this month, Jade, Jesy, Perrie and Leigh-Anne mean a cup in the back of a truck before wallowing in an opulent mansion . There, they become their most primitive and appropriate beings while performing stereotyped "woman" tasks: ironing a shirt, vacuuming and serving tea. But as the song continues and the girls affirm themselves as safe, "unconventional" women, they abandon the poshness and let go, crashing hamburgers with cheese and, in general, they give nothing.
As for Nicki, the queen appears through a pristine painted portrait, rapping her verses with a Victorian dress and a golden crown. Would you expect something less?
"Woman Like Me" is the first single from the next fifth album by Little Mix, LM5. The album arrives on November 16 and features tracks with similarly feminist sound titles such as "Woman's World," "Joan of Arc," and "Love a Girl Right." I hope that means that the group has more empowering videos on the way!
