Leah Remini stated that Tom Cruise was aware of the abuses that occurred within the Church of Scientology, going so far as to say that he "has been a part of it".
Remini, 48, told The Daily Beast that Cruise, one of the highest-ranking members of the church, received special treatment from Scientologists. The "King of Queens" star was a member of the church, but he left in 2013. He is now a great Scientology opponent and spoke about that with other former members in his Emmy award-winning series "Scientology and the Aftermath."
"Scientologists are told that Tom Cruise is saving the world on his own, so he is considered a deity within Scientology. He is the second to David Miscavige, the savior of the free world. Tom is even called "Mr. Cruise" by the staff members, "he told the Beast.

The "Kevin can wait" star also claimed that Scientologists make sure that Cruise does not see materials with "no scorn about Scientology."
"They will go as far as if he is going to walk around a certain place, they will make sure there are no magazines that are anti-scientology, so he can not see that," he said.
Remini explained that he believed that others thought Cruise was "an innocent victim in all this", but said that the "Mission Impossible" actor is very aware of what goes on inside the church.
"As far as Tom is concerned, that's very different," he said. "He is very aware of the abuses that occur in Scientology. He has been part of that. "

Remini attributed the status and knowledge of Cruise's abuses in the church to his close relationship with Miscavige. She said that the "Top Gun" star is not "in the same category as the average Scientologist".
He also claimed that an official inside the church told him that Miscavige ordered Cruise to hand out the punishment to a high-ranking member.
"The Church rejects all allegations of Leah Remini as false," the church said in a statement provided to Fox News. "The interview is a public relations gimmick to promote her fake reality television show," As long as the entertainment media prints the lies of Leah Remini, her anti-religious intolerance will have a voice, her hatred has serious consequences. For example, the FBI published a report that shows the alarming increase in hate crimes in the United States, including 1 in 5 related to religious fanaticism, Remini has made an effort to fabricate hatred and instigate harm to innocent people. "
Cruise, meanwhile, has been attacked before because of his association with the controversial religion. In the 2015 documentary "Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief," former members said they were asked to help "facilitate" the break between him and Nicole Kidman, who was not a Scientologist.
