For at least one year, people related to Fantastic beasts: The crimes of Grindelwald I have been answering questions about the inclusion of Johnny Depp in the franchise, thanks to the demands of Depp's personal life and the accusations of his former Amber Heard. Now, Johnny Depp has revealed how the cast and the creative team have had to come out and defend the decision to choose him. He said in a recent interview:

Johnny Depp is suing the Sun newspaper for referring to him as "a wife-beater" after news broke that the relationship between Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard was tumultuous. Depp's accusations include accusing Heard of pooping in his bed and turning violent. She heard that she herself hinted at the accusations against Depp because of her behavior, and there was an awful video with a bottle of wine and a cut finger that was also circulating on the Internet.

The lawsuit mentioned by Depp is just one of the countless lawsuits in which Johnny Depp has participated or is involved, including a lawsuit over City of lies, a film about the deaths of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. Also on the set of that movie, Johnny Depp was accused of beating a crew member, which also resulted in a lawsuit. Only recently, Depp also settled demands for money.

Now, Depp seems to be transmitting remorse over his personal life and his professional life.

In the interview with EW, Jonny Depp also spoke specifically about J.K. Rowling, who previously had to come to his defense, explaining why he made that decision:

J.K. Rowling came out and said about Depp that when the stories came up there was a deep concern about the casting of the actor in the Warner Bros. movies. He also said that he felt that work had been done to make sure casting was the right choice, and concluded with :

Johnny Depp does not play an important role in Fantastic beasts and where to find them. Instead, his character Grindelwald hides as Graves, a character played by Colin Farrell. It is only in the final minutes of the film that Graves' guies are stripped and we find the real Grindelwald for the first time. But nevertheless, Fantastic beasts: The crimes of Grindelwald will focus more on the character, as well as on the popular Harry Potter character, Albus Dumbledore, played by Jude Law in this iteration.

Fantastic beasts: The crimes of Grindelwald Johnny Depp will hit theaters next month on November 16, 2018. To see what movies are still to come to theaters this year, take a look at our full movie premiere calendar. Johnny Depp is expected to return for the current title Fantastic animals 3.
