Janelle Monae Glastonbury 2019: American songs confirmed as part of the festival

Janelle Monáe has been revealed as the third act on the line for Glastonbury 2019.

Monáe, who released their renowned third full-length album Dirty Computer in April, joins Stormzy and Kylie Minogue as confirmed acts at this year's Worthy Farm festival.

The news was announced on BBC 6 Music Monday morning by Glastonbury co-organizer Emily Eavis, who confirmed Monae will perform on the West Holts scene.

Eavis also provided further details on the new developments in the Glastonbury area, which will be the first festival for the first time since 2017 this summer.

Arcadia, known for its iconic spider design, is working on a new structure for 2019, while Block 9 is set to launch a new installation. It will also be "something new, close to where Teepees was," Eavis said.

She added that when it comes to booking artists for the festival lineup, we are about 90 percent off the road there.

"We are very fortunate to be able to get the bands we have," she added. "As you know, we do not pay the same amounts as others, so we depend on good feeling."

Monáe will follow up his Glastonbury performance with a big show at the SSE Arena in Wembley in July. Last year she blew the audience away with a five-star performance at Roundhouse. Read our full review of the amazing show here.
