Love Islands Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer shocked the fans by announcing their split last month, before reunion just days later.
Now the couple have opened for the first time, with Jack revealing what really went wrong.
Explaining the reason they called it one day, Jack said, 27, to his brother that the pressure to fight in the spotlight got too much for them.
"As you know when you argue, nobody knows about it, but when we did, we would be out for dinner and we're not talking," he explained on his new show, Jack and Dani: Life After Love Island.
"Or Dani has the bow, you can see people staring at being" Oh, my God, they argue? They are not the ones? "As it would be so shocking to them …"
He added, "I wish I could keep my relationship private, but that's what we signed up for."
Dani announced on Thursday, December 6, and wrote on her story to her 3.4 million Instagram followers: "Jack and I have unfortunately decided to share ways."
While she did not expand on why they split at that time, she added: "Unfortunately, we have come to realize that it is not meant to be long term".
However, the couple reunited only days later, when Dani shared a clip joking around with Jack at the back of a taxi.
While most fans were thrilled when they came together, the duo was also hit with a good deal of the backlash, with many branding them "calculated" and "publicity aware" – something Dani has denied since denied.
Reflecting on the statement, she emotionally told Jack on their show: "I thought we were done and we were over and there was no going back … sorry".
Dani continued to tell her beau that the breakup was "stupid" and a "mistake".
