Even though Wolverine's journey ended in the movie of 2017 Logan, the star Hugh Jackman trusts that the character will return someday.
While speaking on the weekly Sunday Today, the actor reaffirmed that Wolverine will return some day soon, but that fans should not expect to see his familiar face on paper.
"Oh, Wolverine will come back," he told interviewer Willie Geist. "Someone is going to buy it, I do not know."
"However, no," Geist replied, prompting an exchange of humor.
"No, but Ryan [Reynolds] it's relentless, "Jackman said, addressing Reynolds' constant requests for Jackman to appear in a Deadpool and Wolverine collaboration.
Jackman has consistently refused to appear in the Deadpool films, and the two have only appeared on the screen on the large widescreen. X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Reynolds has kept the one-sided joke in having Deadpool staple a magazine cover from Jackman's face to his in the first movie, and presents a "Wolverine Dead" music box in Deadpool 2.
Jackman was previously asked about the repetition of the role in another dead Pool sequel if it was directed by Jason Reitman, who directed the last Jackman movie The front runner. But Jackman diverted and accused Yahoo! Entertainment to be a ship for Ryan Reynolds.
"I love Jason Reitman, and really, because of everything I say, you know I love Ryan Reynolds," Jackman said. "But now Ryan, I'm sorry, pal, you'll have to work harder than that."
For his own credit, Reynolds has acknowledged that Jackman's time as Wolverine is likely, but he will not stop trying.
"I think that convincing Hugh of that would be an almost impossible feat, but there is no human being who loves more than Hugh Jackman in that universe, and like a friend, he is simply the best," Reynolds told EW.
"I already miss him as Logan, so I'm one of those guys that every time I see him, I like:" Come on, man, just one more, come on, we'll do it together, it'll be fun, come on! Three Here we go, together, one, two, three, together, "and it's always me who says it."
Jackman's reference to Disney's imminent purchase of Fox means that he understands that his iconic character will likely be recast. But until another actor is chosen as Wolverine, the fans (and Ryan Reynolds) will not stop asking Jackman to return to the role.
