The House of Xtravaganza announced its death in an Instagram post.
"It's with great sadness, the family Xtravaganza family announces the passage of our beloved grandfather Hector," the mail reads. "He was a friend to everyone he met, a source of inspiration to anyone who knew him, and a cornerstone of our family."
Steven Canals, co-creator and executive of "Pose", called Xtravaganza a "devoted friend and loved member of the #PoseFX family."
"He was a vice-consultant, but more than that, he was a loyal Abuelo to everyone."
"Silent" star Johnny Sibilly remembered him on Twitter.
"Rest in force Hector," he wrote. "A real icon, kind soul and trailblazer."
"The world lost a bright light today," wrote "Pose" producer and author Our Lady J.
Born Hector Crespo, Xtravaganza changed the legal surname and was the house risk of Xtravaganza from 1993-1997 and 1999-2003. He passed the honorary title to House Grandfather after 2003. House of Xtravaganza was known to be the first Latin house in the primary African-American underground ball scene in New York.
"It's the opportunity of life," Xtravaganza told them to consult with "Pose". "With Ryan Murphy, how am I supposed to say no? It's the best decision I've made in my life … I wouldn't let this go for anything. As my grandmother always said, if a door closes, you deserve and swallow yourself. "
