Friday the 13th is having another reboot, and LeBron James is involved

adminOctober 23, 2018

The 2018-2019 season of the NBA has just begun, and beyond the almost unforgivable conclusion that the Golden State Warriors will do three things, one of the most important stories is that LeBron James begins the next chapter of his career as Los Angeles Laker But LeBron does not just come to Los Angeles to play; He's leaving full of Hollywood. The production company LeBron James is now involved in a restart of Friday the 13th.

Vertigo Entertainment and SpringHill Entertainment of LeBron James are in talks to create a reboot of the iconic horror franchise, which dates back to the 1980s. Friday the 13th and has twelve installments to date, including Freddy vs. Jason. This potential restart is in the early stages, but the meetings are aimed at writers and potential project directors, according to Deadline.

This news comes after a legal decision on the rights of the franchise of terror. Victor Miller, the writer of the 1980 film, regained the rights of the USA. UU Friday the 13th under copyright laws that allow authors to claim their work 35 years after selling it for a low price. With that legal battle now won, the rights issues that have been delaying others Friday the 13th Apparently they are a minor impediment for the franchise to continue in the future.

After his victory, Victor Miller led the restart to SpringHill Entertainment and Vertigo of LeBron. SpringHill Entertainment has a production agreement with the Warner Bros. studio.

This is not the first time that an attempt to restart has been made. Last year it was assumed that a reboot of Jason Voorhees would take place at Paramount from the Platinum Dunes of Michael Bay. The study rejected the project, after Rings He failed at the box office, confusing the failure of a movie with the lack of viability in all reboots of terror.

Obviously, that mentality no longer prevails in Hollywood given the current success that the horror in general is finding at the box office and, especially, the horror restarts of iconic properties, as demonstrated last year. THAT and the newly launched Hallowe'en. The moment seems right for Friday the 13th get a Hallowe'enupdate style.

The reboot-quel by Michael Myers enjoyed a record-breaking opening at the box office last weekend and the best debut of a movie in the franchise, proving that these seminal horror figures have a place in the modern film market.

The last film of the franchise was the one of 2009. Friday the 13th, which in turn was a restart of the property, however, failed to deliver critically and did not break $ 100 million in its entire global journey. But now we are ten years old, what appears to be the approximate time period before many restarts, and being the 13th entry in the franchise has to be a good sign that this potential restart will lead Jason to prominence and allow him to make his mark in this new era of terror.

This is not the only restart of a named property that LeBron James is involved with. The All-Star and SpringHill Entertainment are also involved in a new version of House party as well as the long-awaited Space Jam 2. It remains to be seen if LeBron James can restart the Lakers to become relevant again.
