Yann Moix's comments on older women have not been successful in social media.

A prominent French writer and television presenter has caused violence after saying that he could not possibly love a woman aged 50 or older.

Kicker? He just happens to be 50 himself.

Yann Moix made the comments on the French edition of the women's magazine Marie Claireand said that older women were just invisible to him.

"I prefer younger women's bodies, that's all," he said Marie Claire. "The body of a 25-year-old woman is extraordinary. The body of a 50-year-old woman is nothing extraordinary at all."

Not surprisingly, Moix's comments attracted some setbacks on social media.

A Twitter user talked that women over 50 now "breathe a collective sigh of relief on the bullet they have stupid," while others only contained pictures of celebrities over 50, such as Halle Berry and Jennifer Aniston.

Moix, who has won several literary prizes and hosts a talk show in France, is no stranger to controversy. He also criticized the magazine for preferring to dance Asian women – "Koreans, Chinese and Japanese".

Moix later reacted to the social media setback in an interview with RTL and said he is not responsible for who he likes and "I don't have to answer the court"

He also joked that he has his own problems and admits, "It's not easy to be with me".
