Each of the films off The Conjura is inspired by a documented paranormal event. James Wan, producer and director of past saga installments, revealed in which case the new movie of the successful horror franchise will be based.
During the promotion of his latest movie Aquaman, Wan foresaw some details about the plot of the third episode of the saga, which this time will be directed by Michael Chaves, also responsible for the still unpublished horror movie La Llorona.
"It is the first time the story is not based on an object, as in the two previous films, it is taken directly from the archives of Ed and Lorraine Warren," James Wan said.
The file rescued by Wan from the Warren archives for the new movie, tells the story of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, the first accused of murder who, in a trial, used the demonic possession as an exception to his criminal liability after killing his landlord.
The story comes from the Glatzel family and their 11-year-old son, David. The boy suffered from nightmares and very strong sign changes, even now physical injuries. When her condition worsened, her sister Debbie wanted to take care of David and asked her partner to wait for everything to be resolved.
The story of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, David and Warren will meet theaters in April 2019.
