Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has sparked a controversy over racism in a social media campaign that included a series of China-themed videos posted on its Instagram account over the weekend, describing a Asian model that uses chopsticks to eat Italian foods.
On Wednesday, the company abruptly canceled a scheduled catwalk show later that day in Shanghai, apologized and blamed the messages for a hack.

"Our Instagram account has been hacked, as has Stefano Gabbana's account," the fashion house said on Wednesday. "Our legal office is investigating urgently, we regret the problems caused by these unauthorized publications, we have nothing but respect for China and the people of China."
According to an article published on the Chinese news site Jing Daily, the videos were published on Weibo, but as the reaction was rapid, they have already been removed. "The publications were considered racist by the website due to the" stereotyped "appearance of the model and the decoration of the fund, which has been qualified as obsolete."
