Chris Brown is facing lesser costs associated with a monkey.
The Los Angeles law firm confirmed on Thursday that the 29-year-old singer was charged last week with two counts originating from his possession of a capuchin monkey without authorization.
Brown published in Instagram, where he has 44 million fans, a picture of his 3-year-old daughter, Royalty, carved the pet, called Fiji.
California fishing and wildlife agents confiscated the monkey shortly afterwards.
Brown must be shown to the authorities on 6 February. His lawyer, Mark Geragos, did not immediately respond to an email from the AP, sent after hours, looking for statements.
Brown has had several issues with the law since he plagued guilty in 2009 to attack his then-beloved Rihanna. He completed his sampling for this case in 2015.
