Carlos Sanchez was without a doubt one of the most internationally recognized Colombians because of Juan Valdez's face, one of the strongest Colombian coffee brands in the world. Sanchez, a coffee professor of profession, was elected in 1963 to be an ambassador for Colombian coffee in the world and to represent the 500,000 coffee families in the country.
In the 37 years that personified Juan Valdez, Sánchez traveled all over the world. Japan, Canada, China, the United States, Spain, France and England were some of the places he traveled with the mission of positioning history, culture and tradition behind each cup of Colombian coffee.
He died in Medellin at 83 years due to an airway infection.
