The creator of hits "Bodak Yellow" distributed hundreds of winter coats and free sneakers in a public housing complex called Marlboro Houses located in the district of New York.
Hundreds of people flocked to the homes to get the chance to meet the 26-year-old, and the event took place at the Marlboro Houses community center and at a Boost Mobile store across the street.
Cardi helped distribute 400 coats and 100 pairs of sneakers to fans of the crowd, some of whom waited in a 40 degree weather for its morning start (reportedly arrived around 8:30 pm after of a photo session). Video captured by A B C shows the young fans singing: "Where is Cardi B?"
"I did not know it was going to be that big," said the "I like" actor to WABC. "My friend, Chuck, told me: Hey, we give out coats to our community, I know someone who wants to hand out coats in Marlboro, and I said: I'm going to retire, what's wrong? # 39; "
Trax NYC, Daniel's Leather and NY Tent Sale served as sponsors of the event.
In an Instagram post, Cardi thanked the fans for coming to see her, and wrote: "I WAS ALREADY BORN IN MARLBORO TODAY! And how many people stopped, I was not ready … Thanks Marlboro!"
