Angelina Jolie is one of the most recognized activists in the world. After a visit to Cambodia in 2000, where she learned about the difficulties of the refugees, the actor decided that she would devote most of her time to defending these people and became a goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Since then, Jolie has traveled the world who visited the displaced and has become a defender of these peoples' rights not only in the missions on the ground but also with their representation in the diplomatic field.
Thanks to this work, the 43-year-old actress has received political relevance because of what she has suggested for her to take the US presidency. In the beginning, Jolie was dumb and went off the idea, but in one of her last statements she opened the door to a possible candidacy.
On the BBC Radio 4 Today radio program, Angelina said she had never thought of the idea, but to see the current situation she is willing to go where she was "needed".
The activist, however, emphasized that at present it is considering that it can already generate a significant impact without having to have a title.
"I've had the opportunity to work with governments and the military, so I'm in a privileged place to do many things without having a special title and having to give up what I think and my policies," Jolie said.
UNHCR's special envoy also referred to her political stance and said she is not aware of where it is best suited.
"I don't know where it fits into politics, but lately I've played not to know if I have a skeleton in my closet. I'm very open to the subject," he added.
Finally, he referred to the role he can play to generate improvements in the world: "Honestly I would do everything I think can create real change".
