With the last XXXTentacion winning the best soul / R & B album at the American Music Awards tonight (October 9) for its 17 On the album, her mother, Cleopatra Bernard, took the stage to accept the award on behalf of her son.
"I'm so nervous, guys," Bernard admitted on the stage, after being introduced by presenter Kane Brown. After some encouragement from the audience, he approached the podium to give a brief speech on behalf of his son, born Jahseh Onfroy, who died at age 20 in June of this year after being shot dead.
"I am honored to accept this award on behalf of my son," he began. "I would like to thank the AMAs, their supporters, and everyone who made this possible. Thank you very much, I appreciate it." She drowned, she left the stage from there.
XXXTentacion is also nominated for best new artist at this year's AMA.
