As we approach WWE's second largest event of the year, we all go for the Royal Rumble match. By far, it is the most unique and exciting battle. As we move closer to the end of January, the field of 30 begins to fill out. We wait every week to see who enters the race for a shot to the main event WrestleMania.

Over the years, however, what is not announced is that we always talk and wonder who might come up. No doubt that the exciting part of the match is when the countdown clock hits zero and the sum sounds, we wait to see who comes down that time. While we will see our superstars, we will also see the incredible.

The best part about this fight is the unpredictability. It's about the superstars of the past coming back to be in the limelight once more. It's about superstars who make their debut. It's about the reaction the fans make when these superstars make their way to the ring. As Matt Striker once said:

"This is what Royal Rumble is all about because you never know!"

These words could not be any more threatening. You never know the true magic of Royal Rumble. You never know if a legend is coming back, who starts Rumble, who pulled number 30, or if we are to see the superstars square, we have never seen or could imagine. The Royal Rumble is really special for the moment we never thought we would look. Here are the top 5 Royal Rumbles ranked by surprising players.

# 5 2001 Royal Rumble

Some call this possibly the largest rumble ever gathered. Although it is known for its records (Kane Eliminating 11 Men and Stone Cold Wins its Third Rumble), it had some very remarkable returns. But the first of them was not a return, it was a celebrity.

Earlier in the broadcast, Drew Carey stopped for a little promotion of his new show. After an accidental flirting with Trish Stratus, Vince decided to join Carey in Royal Rumble.

While in the ring, Hardy Boyz eliminated each other and left Drew alone. That's when it was time for participant number 6 to come out, and when the fire blew the scene, Kane took the road to the ring. Kane was not amused by Carey's attempt at a handshake and bribe and wrapped his hand around Carey's throat. When he was about to deliver a choke slam, Raven came out and rescued. Carey climbed over the top rope, eliminating himself from the fight.

Shortly after the entrance 12, the "Cool, Cocky, and Bad" music of Honky Tonk Man was heard through the New Orleans arena. After about a moment, he likes 10 other men feeling Kane's anger and being eliminated.

Later on entry 23, The Big Show returned after a 5 month hiatus. He quickly had his eyes set on The Rock. Yet, as last year, The Big Show was eliminated by The Rock. This anger show as he was only in the match in less than 2 minutes. He pulled The Rock under the bottom of the rope and continued to choke him through the announcement table.

The last night's surprise was a return Superstar who made his debut 15 years earlier in the WWE. At the entrance 29 was Haku. The former "King" formerly managed by the likes of Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart lasted about 3 minutes before being eliminated by the final winner Stone Cold.
